1. Who can attend WISE Summer School (WISEss)?

Anyone who is has the passion, sincerity to learn and  to know more about Worldview of Islam. Those who are studying or just finished studying are considered as students and should be of 17yrs of age and above. Professional fee are for those who have a permanent job with income not less than RM2500 and below.

2. How do I enrol and register?

3. Do I need Islamic Studies background to enrol myself?

No. Anyone who is a Muslim from all walks of life are encouraged to apply.

4. Is there any age limit?

Students are for those who are above 17 yrs old and there are no age constraint with the professionals.

5. What is CASIS, HAKIM and PeaceMeal?

CASIS stands for the Centre for Advanced Studies in Islam, Science and Civilisation. It is a faculty under the Innovation Centre in University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur. CASIS seeks to promote post-graduate scholarship and learning for the advancement of knowledge in the fields of study relating to Islam, Science, and Civilization and their allied sciences under the ambit of the worldview of Islam in full cognizance of relevant developments in other civilizations, especially in the contemporary world.

Among its main objectives is to train young scholars who are intellectually adept to delve into the intricacies of religious thought while simultaneously at home with (intellectual and) scientific ideas, technologies and socio-economic thought and institutions of today. These emerging scholars will have the requisite intellectual tools and competent knowledge to imbibe from the multi-disciplinary program to prepare themselves for future intellectual and civilizational challenges at home and the world at large.

HAKIM stands for Himpunan Keilmuan Muslim. HAKIM’s  programs and activities are directed at the long-term civilizational revivification of the Ummah in general and the Muslims of Malaysia in particular through well thought out, systematic educational, research and consultancy initiatives.
HAKIM believes that it is of the utmost intellectual and strategic importance for thinking Muslims to appropriate the proper use of the key-term Worldview of Islam and to articulate it in institutional and operational terms so it can serve as a practical guide to people involved in salient public domains of the civilizational enterprise, such as science and technology, politics, civil society, education, justice, economics and commerce.

 PeaceMeal  aims to bring cultural, intellectual and spiritual understanding of Islam through interactive programs. We seek to be one of many platforms available to people, to facilitate this understanding

6. Can i skip some days, take half of the day ?

All modules and discussions provided are compulsory for participants to participate. Visits are optional. Please indicate the particular visits you wish to join during the whole course of the program.

7. Are the modules interconnected with each other?

Yes. The modules and discussions are formulated by the scholars themselves to be interconnected with each other to give a systematic flow of ideas.

8. Who are the lecturers?

The lecturers comprises of former students of Professor Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas during his time at ISTAC (1988-2002). Most of them are currently lecturers in CASIS and in other institutions around Malaysia.

9. Can i not stay in the accommodation provided?

Yes you may. But it is strongly encouraged for all participants to stay in the accommodation provided for the convenience of gaining the whole experience of what WISEss has got to offer. Tentative programs are formulated to finish up until 10.00pm and classes usually starts around 9.00am. In the busy town like Kuala Lumpur, staying near to the venue is ideal.

10. What if i have a group of people (more than 3) who’s interested?

There are group discounts for those who comes in groups of more than 3 people. That is these group are prepared to have a shared accommodation among themselves.

11. Can i request to share my accommodation with another to reduce the cost?

Yes. We are glad to arrange such arrangements for you. Please indicate your preferences in our registration form.

12. I have specific meal requirement, are you able to cater?

It would be good if these preferences could be made known to us as soon as possible for us to make further arrangements.

13. What are the meals inclusive of?

It is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch and Supper. Dinner will not be provided, but we have relevant transportation for those who wants to roam around KL to find other forms of food. In case this is not preferable, please indicate your concern about this matter. We will try our best to accommodate you with an extra meal during the day.

15. What are the fees inclusive of?

16. Is financial aid available for WISEss?

Yes. We have an option ‘Sponsor a Student’ for any members of the public/participant who is interested in sponsoring a student. Please email to us why you deserve to be sponsored.

17. Can i sponsor a student?

Yes, there is an option to ‘Sponsor a Student’ in the registration site. You can sponsor the whole program fee or more.

18. What if i don’t have a credit card and i am applying from overseas?

19. Where exactly is it going to be held?

The settings will be at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Semarak — 8 minutes away from KLCC. The classes will be held in the new building, Razak Tower,  Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Campus in a small U-shaped seminar room. Scholar’s Inn is also located withing the compound of the university. Discussion sessions will be held in a small classroom around the seminar room area.

20. Do we have time to roam around the area?

Yes, we would encourage all participants to make their sightseeing arrangements during allocated  free time. Please refer to the timetable for more information.
