UTM Management Retreat 2026

The UTM Management Retreat 2026 brought together the University’s leadership to align strategic priorities and strengthen the development of the Action Plan 2027 (AP2027). Day 1 focused on the UTMDX Digital Services Agenda and Direction and the presentation of AP2027 aspirations by the respective Desired State (DS) owners across the four UTM ASCEND 2030 pillars, while Day 2 focused on the presentation of faculty-level AP2027 initiatives by 13 Deans according to the Engineering, Science & Technology, and Social Science & Built Environment clusters. The programme was further enriched with a Special University Ranking Session and a HolonIQ Special Analytics Session, providing insights into institutional ranking, analytics and data to support strategic decision-making.

The UTM ASCEND 2030 Action Plan 2027 Workshop Series 3 marked a significant milestone in advancing the University’s strategic planning and implementation for 2027. Held on 17 August 2026 at Dewan Alumni, UTM Johor Bahru, the workshop convened key stakeholders to deliberate and validate the refined Central-Level AP2027, reaffirm the commitment of Action Groups (KT) towards the implementation of the respective Desired States (DS), and facilitate the development of Faculty-Level AP2027 across 13 faculties. Through structured discussions and engagement sessions, the workshop further strengthened alignment between University- and faculty-level priorities, ensuring that the proposed actions are focused, coordinated and strategically aligned with the aspirations and direction of UTM ASCEND 2030.

The UTM ASCEND 2030 Action Plan 2027 Workshop Series 2 aims to comprehensively review the preliminary AP2027 drafts developed during Series 1 for each Desired State (DS), gather feedback from the Pilots and identify cross-DS issues related to scope, overlapping actions and target setting, as well as facilitate the handover of AP2027 development from the Action Groups to the Pilots towards producing the AP2027 Draft for further deliberation in Series 3.

The UTM ASCEND 2030 AP2027 Workshop Series 1 was organised to review the progress of AP2026 implementation across each Desired State (DS) and establish a shared understanding among DS Leads (Pilots), Deans, Action Groups and relevant stakeholders. The workshop also focused on identifying performance gaps, implementation challenges and strategic priorities for inclusion in the 2027 Action Plan. It marked the initial stage of developing the preliminary AP2027 drafts by nine Action Groups using the templates and proposed deliverables provided by PSRP.

The UTM ASCEND 2030 Achievement Review Seminar was held to assess the implementation progress of AP2026 across each Desired State (DS). The seminar brought together DS Leads (Pilots), Deans, Action Groups and relevant stakeholders to build a shared understanding as the foundation for developing AP2027. It also provided a platform to identify performance gaps, implementation challenges and strategic priorities, while initiating the preparation of the preliminary AP2027 draft by nine Action Groups based on the templates and proposed deliverables provided by PSRP.

UTM ASCEND 2030 Action Plan 2027 Workshop

The UTM ASCEND 2030 Action Plan 2027 Workshop was organised to establish the design principles, content structure and implementation timeline for the development of the 2027 Action Plan (AP2027). The workshop also focused on detailing the programme content and document preparation for the Management Retreat 2026 and LPU Retreat 2026. The outcomes will support the preparation of the draft working paper for the AP2027 Development Workshop, to be submitted to the University Management Committee (JPU) for approval.
