The UTM ASCEND 2030 AP2027 Workshop Series 1 was organised to review the progress of AP2026 implementation across each Desired State (DS) and establish a shared understanding among DS Leads (Pilots), Deans, Action Groups and relevant stakeholders. The workshop also focused on identifying performance gaps, implementation challenges and strategic priorities for inclusion in the 2027 Action Plan. It marked the initial stage of developing the preliminary AP2027 drafts by nine Action Groups using the templates and proposed deliverables provided by PSRP.

UTM ASCEND 2030 Achievement Review Seminar
The UTM ASCEND 2030 Achievement Review Seminar was held to assess the implementation progress of AP2026 across each Desired State (DS). The seminar brought together DS Leads (Pilots), Deans, Action Groups and relevant stakeholders to build a shared understanding as the foundation for developing AP2027. It also provided a platform to identify performance gaps, implementation challenges and strategic priorities, while initiating the preparation of the preliminary AP2027 draft by nine Action Groups based on the templates and proposed deliverables provided by PSRP.
UTM ASCEND 2030 Action Plan 2027 Workshop
The UTM ASCEND 2030 Action Plan 2027 Workshop was organised to establish the design principles, content structure and implementation timeline for the development of the 2027 Action Plan (AP2027). The workshop also focused on detailing the programme content and document preparation for the Management Retreat 2026 and LPU Retreat 2026. The outcomes will support the preparation of the draft working paper for the AP2027 Development Workshop, to be submitted to the University Management Committee (JPU) for approval.
UTM ASCEND 2030 Research Grant Criteria Workshop
The UTM ASCEND 2030 Research Grant Criteria Workshop was organised to review UTM’s existing research grant landscape, including grant categories, implementation systems, support programmes, effectiveness, implementation issues and areas for improvement. The workshop also focused on developing proposed criteria and concepts for new research grants that support UTM ASCEND 2030, strengthen the University’s international reputation and visibility, contribute to QS Ranking components, and deliver targeted research outcomes. The findings will serve as key input for the preparation of the UTM ASCEND 2030 Research Grant Proposal Paper for the University’s consideration.
Strategy & Risk Engagement Session PTJ Kuala Lumpur 2025
The programme aimed to provide comprehensive exposure on the UTM ASCEND 2030 Strategic Plan, focusing on four pillars of excellence, the implementation of risk-based management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and the role of PTJs in systematically identifying, assessing, and treating risks at departmental and faculty levels. The active participation from all faculties and PTJs at the Kuala Lumpur Campus was highly encouraging, reflecting the readiness of the UTMKL community to strengthen a proactive risk management culture aligned with the university’s strategic goals. Sincere appreciation is extended to the speakers and all participants involved, with the hope that the knowledge and best practices shared will be applied in daily governance to deliver services that are safer, more efficient, and of high impact.
UTM Town Hall Strategic Plan 2026 – 2030
The UTM Town Hall Strategic Plan 2026–2030 serves as a strategic engagement platform to communicate the university’s direction, priorities, and key initiatives for the next five years. It brings together university leadership, faculties, departments, and stakeholders to align goals, clarify strategic thrusts, and strengthen collective commitment towards achieving UTM’s aspirations.
