Prominent Economist

Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali has made significant contributions to academia and national development. Notably, he served as the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from 2014 to 2018, where he enhanced the university’s academic reputation. He was the Executive Director of the Economic Action Council (EAC) Secretariat from 2020 to 2022, providing strategic guidance on national economic policies. He has also been a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Bank Negara Malaysia from 2015 to 2019, playing a key role in shaping the country’s monetary policies. As a Mason Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard’s Center for International Development, his expertise in economics has gained international recognition. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS), continuing to contribute to higher education leadership in Malaysia.
