Speaker 1 - Mr. Omar Abdul Rahim (Universiti Malaya)

Mr. Omar Abdul Rahim
Head, Risk Management Division, Centre for Risk Management (RISK)
Universiti Malaya (UM)

Mr. Omar Abdul Rahim is the Head of the Risk Management Division at the Centre for Risk Management (RISK), Universiti Malaya. He has been serving UM since 2003, with experience across the Department of Human Resources, International Student Centre, and the Department of Quality Management and Enhancement (QMED), before joining RISK where he has served for the past seven years.

He holds a Bachelor of Information Technology (Multimedia) from Universiti Malaya and a Master of Science in Business Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), with research on Risk Management Practices in the Internationalization Process of Malaysian Public Research Universities.

Mr. Omar is an experienced Lead Auditor, certified under ISO 9001 (2013–2023), and currently audits UM’s new quality management framework, the Universiti Malaya Quality Excellence Index (UMQEI). He has been instrumental in developing UM’s Risk Management Policy and Guidelines, Crisis Management Plan, and Business Continuity Management Plan, as well as overseeing the UM Risk Management Committee (JKPR) and Crisis Management Committee (CMC).

At the national level, he serves as the Head of the Culture & Documentation Bureau of the Public University Risk Management Council (MARISK) and leads the Task Force for the Development of Risk Management Guidelines for Malaysian Public Universities.

Speaker 2 - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin Syah Bangaan Abdullah (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia)

Deputy Director (Risk Management), Centre for Risk, Safety & Health (ROSH-UKM)
Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hafizuddin Syah Bangaan Abdullah has been a faculty member at UKM since 2006 and currently serves as Deputy Director (Risk Management) at ROSH-UKM. He holds a Master’s degree from Monash University, Australia, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Risk Management from UKM.

His expertise is in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and he has led consultancy projects with organizations such as PIDM, DOSH, UKM Holdings, and ISRA. A Certified Trainer under HRD Corp, he frequently conducts workshops on ERM, MS ISO 31000:2018, and ISO 9001:2015.

He is Vice Chairman of MARISK, Technical Committee Member on Risk Management (Standards Malaysia), Advisor to UKM Holdings UPPR, and a Senior Associate Fellow at UUM Institute of Risk Management.

Speaker 3 - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shafie Mohamed Zabri (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shafie Mohamed Zabri

Dr. Shafie Mohamed Zabri is the Dean of Johor Business School, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He began his career at Universiti Utara Malaysia in 2000 before joining UTHM in 2007. Over the years, he has held key positions including Head of Department, Deputy Dean, Deputy Director of the Innovation and Commercialisation Centre, and Dean of the Faculty of Technology Management and Business.

From 2018 to 2022, he served as Director of Education Malaysia London under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), managing internationalisation initiatives with universities in the UK, Ireland, and Europe, while supporting Malaysian students abroad.

His research focuses on behavioural finance, SMEs, entrepreneurship, and digitalisation, with over 40 publications indexed in Scopus. He holds a PhD in Business (Management) from the University of Plymouth, UK, an MBA from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He is also a Certified Risk Manager (CRiM).
