Success Factors and Risk Mitigation for UTM SP2030 Workshop was held on 4th November 2024 at Bilik Tayangan 1, Perpustakaan Sultanah Zanariah, UTM Johor Bahru. The workshop aimed to discuss key success factors for each Strategic Objective (SO) and Desired State (DS) to support effective implementation, while also identifying potential risks that could hinder progress and discussing mitigation strategies. The event opened with welcoming remarks by the Director of OSCA, Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Che Rozid bin Mamat, followed by a briefing on Strategic Objectives (SO) and Desired States (DS) by Prof. Dr. Shamsul bin Sahibuddin. Participants also received guidance on using the Success & Risk Factors Template before engaging in focused group discussions, allowing them to collaboratively address the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving UTM SP2030 goals.

The UTM Strategy and Risk Management Policy Development Workshop, held on 29 October 2024 at UTM Johor Bahru, focused on strengthening the University’s strategic and risk management frameworks. The workshop updated the Risk Management Policy (2014) and developed a new university-wide Strategy Management Policy, reflecting UTM’s commitment to continuous improvement and best practices in governance.

Held on 22 October at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, the UTM Town Hall officially introduced Action Plan 2025, outlining the University’s strategic direction towards EnVision UTM 2025. The session engaged the UTM community and stakeholders in building shared commitment to the plan’s successful implementation.

Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Risiko Universiti (JPRU) Meeting No. 1/2024 was held recently on 18th September 2024 chaired by YBhg. Datuk Prof. Dr. Azlinda binti Azman, the Director General of Higher Education. The meeting addressed several key agenda items, including the chairman’s opening remarks, the approval of minutes from the 14th JPRU meeting, and the discussion of outstanding matters from previous sessions. Additionally, the updated University Risk Assessment for Q2/2024, which had been presented to the Jawatankuasa Pengarah Universiti (JPU) on June 24, 2024, was reviewed.

The UTM Management Retreat 2024, held from 22 to 24 August at the Swiss-Garden Hotel, convened UTM’s top management to refine key strategic frameworks for the University’s future. The retreat focused on strengthening departmental Key High Impact Results (Key HIRs), Corporate Key Results (KRs), and strategic risks under the enVision UTM 2025 Action Plan (AP2025), while also refining the UTM Strategic Plan 2026–2030 (SP2030). Outcomes from the retreat will inform the final drafts of both plans for consideration by the UTM Board of Directors.

Bringing together UTM’s top leadership, the workshop focused on refining the Strategic Objectives and Desired States of the UTM Strategic Plan 2026–2030 (SP2030). It strengthened alignment between Main Task Force, Faculty, and Top Management aspirations, ensuring a unified and future-ready strategic direction for the University.
