Wacana Strategi UTM 2026 – 2030

 

The program aims to:
  • Relay UTM’s vision and aspirations through presentations on the Strategic Objectives and Desired State outlined in UTM’s Strategic Plan 2026 – 2030 (SP2030).
  • Obtain feedback, critiques, and suggestions for improvement from key stakeholders, including university staff, students, alumni, and UTM’s extended families, including industry and community representatives.

Strengthen globally-recognized future-oriented graduates through adab-instilled humanity-centric learning experience

Desired States

1) 30% of UTM graduates with Tier 1 Premium Employment, by 2030 (RM4k per month)

2) RM 1 mil cumulative investment/ funding on student startup, by 2030

* Investment/ funding from external, non-UTM sources

about UTM strategic plan 2026 – 2030

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

We have set a set of seven Strategic Objectives with twelve bold Desired States by 2030

Strengthen globally-recognised future-oriented graduates through adab-instilled humanity-centric learning experience

  • By 2030, 30% of UTM graduates with Tier 1 Premium Employment (RM4k per month)*
  • By 2030, RM 1 mil cumulative investment/ funding on student startup**

* Tier 1: MNC and GLC only, international & local, UG & PG
** investment/ funding from external, non-UTM sources

Leading in smart, sustainable and integrated (SSI) knowledge and research for scholary excellence and societal transformation

  • By 2030, 50% high-impact SSI-related research output increment*
  • By 2030, 200% external funding received from the investment of social innovation**
  • By 2030, 40% AI-powered knowledge discovery cognitive platform development***

* Output measured in terms of number of grant, papers, talent, MoA, etc. related to SSI. 50% compared to baseline (TBC) set in 2025
** Measured in terms of ROI, the denominator would be the RM invested by the university (2026-2030) and the numerator is RM obtained from external sources (2026-2030)
*** Measured in stages/ phases incl. encouraging open science practise, library outreach, developing explorer platform and AI integration

Attain financial resilience by strategically leveraging academic, research and asset strengths

  • By 2030, achieving revenue of RM 400 million*

* Gross income generated by the university, as per recorded by the Dept. of Bursar

Provide tropically sustainable and intelligent campus experience via resources optimisation and transformation

  • By 2030, reducing the university’s carbon footprint by 45%*
  • By 2030, improve user experience by 40% through Artificial Intelligence platform utilization**

* based on national target, calculated based on (kg CO2 produced – kg CO2 absorbed). percentage improved based on baseline (TBC) in 2025.
** to be measured in three key components i) specific CSI ii) AI maturity levels iii) improvement of business processes, baseline to be established in 2025

Elevate talent competitiveness through agile governance, digital transformation and enhanced staff well-being

  • By 2030, the university staff achieving 80% competitiveness*

* target will be influenced by baseline (TBC) set in 2025, talent competitiveness to be calculated in 4 major elements (competency, productivity, leadership, recognition)

  • Apart from the opening and forum, the content of all three sessions are similar: with seven (7) different stations explaining UTM’s seven (7) Strategic Objectives for 2026 – 2030.
  • All students, UTM alumni and external stakeholders are invited to the opening and forum, as well as any sessions as they see fit.
  • UTM’s staff are encouraged to attend the opening and forum, as well as the sessions according to their respective departments. However, if they are unable to do so, they can choose any sessions as they see fit.
  • Refreshments will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.
