What is "Three Minute Thesis"?
The Three Minute Thesis Competition aims at assessing the students’ capacity to communicate ideas effectively. It is intended to enhance the development of academic and research communication skills. Selected PhD Research Students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance, in language appropriate to non-specialist audience.

Who is eligible?
The competition is open to:
All active PhD students in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur
Those have submitted Notice of Thesis Submission and endorsed by JAPSU
PhD Student who have been endorsed as Graduates by the Sub-Senate Committee meeting are not eligible
Those who are qualified for 3 Minute Thesis competition will be notified by SPS

Rules
· Only one (1) static Power Point slide is permitted (no slide transitions, animations or ‘movement’ of any description, the slide is to be displayed from the beginning of the oration).
· No additional electronic media (e. g sound and video files)is permitted
· No additional props (e. g costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment) are permitted.
· Presentations are limited to three minutes (maximum) and /presentations exceeding three minutes are disqualified.
· Presentation are to be spoken word (e .g no poems, raps, songs).
· Presentation are to commence from the stage.
· The three minutes started as student commences via movement or speech.
· The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.

Submission Deadline
The application form and slide presentation must be submitted to the Secretariat latest by 15 November 2013, 4.00 p.m . Kindly submit the completed application together with the softcopy of slide presentation to:
