Talk Synopsis:
This presentation is a summary of "hands-on" experience organising more than 20 conferences with world-wide participation. To organise a conference is a task, which many researchers face on different levels. PhD students and young researchers are often involved as supporting staff. Experienced level researchers are involved in reviewing papers, charring sessions and handling invitations of speakers. And finally the leading management staff is chairing the conferences, being members of the scientific committees and also being involved in the venue planning, management and decision making. Those are various roles, however all of them demand beside the high dedication also some know-how and experience. The many issues to be dealt with and neglecting or not paying enough attention to each of them can lower the venue success or even ruin it completely.
