Zainuddin Abdul Manan is a professor of chemical engineering, the founding director of Process Systems Engineering Centre (PROSPECT), and the dean of Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.    He received a BSc in Chemical Engineering from University of Houston, USA, MSc Process Integration from Centre for Process Integration, UMIST, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He is noted as a versatile leader and professor, a resilient and innovative researcher, a prolific writer and an experienced educator with passion for sports, outdoor, traveling and voluntary social work.

Dr Zainuddin is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of The Institutions of Chemical Engineers (IChemE UK, Malaysia Branch). He is also a member of Malaysian Energy Professionals Association (MEPA). He is an Energy Professional and the certified Lead Trainer for Malaysia’s Energy Managers Training Program coordinated by the Greentech Malaysia (formerly Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (PTM)). He has also served as the Technical Advisor for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects under Greentech Malaysia where his expert opinion and services have been regularly sought for. Dr Zainuddin’s extensive involvement as a consultant, a researcher and as one of the nation’s leading trainer in energy management for process industries has encouraged Greentech and ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE) in Jakarta to appoint him as the Vice Chairman in the 10-member Board of Judges for ASEAN Energy Management Award Competition coordinated by ACE and Energy Conservation Center of Japan (ECCJ).
