Prof. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), is a renowned expert in artificial intelligence (AI) and image processing.

He played a key role in establishing Malaysia’s first Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at UTM, which was officially launched by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 10, 2024.

With a Ph.D. in Spatial Modeling and extensive expertise in computer graphics, Prof. Shafry has held prominent academic and administrative positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) and Chair of the Institute for Life-Ready Graduates.

His notable achievements include over 84 indexed publications, the supervision of 39 Ph.D. students, and securing numerous research grants. He is also internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to intelligent image processing, metaverse and the development of innovative digital tools.
