Keynote Speaker:
“Institutional Sustainability: Meeting Challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution”

Y.Bhg Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir
Director General, Department of Higher Education Malaysia

Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir is currently the Director General at the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. She oversees the implementation of the initiatives outlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education) for the public and private higher education institutions. Prior to her current appointment, Datin Paduka Siti was the Deputy Director General for the public and private sectors for 8 years. She played the primary role in the establishment of a rating system for private colleges and the liberalization of private higher education. She also contributed significantly in the formation of several foreign university branch campuses in Malaysia and the enhancement of the public universities’ policies and governance. Prior to her position at the Ministry, Datin Paduka was the Deputy Vice Chancellor of University Teknologi Malaysia. At the professional level, Datin Paduka Siti is a Board Member for Malaysia Board of Technologists, a registered engineer under the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a fellow of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia and an Associate Member of the American Civil Society of Engineers (2008-2012).

“Facing Future Learners: Challenges of Transforming Universities”

Prof. Dr. Ying-Yao Cheng
President, National Sun Yat-sen University

Dr. Ying-Yao Cheng became the 7th President of National Sun Yat-sen University on August 1, 2016. Dr. Cheng is a Professor of the Education Graduate Institute and received his Doctoral Degree in Education at the National Chengchi University in Taiwan. Dr. Cheng has both academic and administrative experiences as the Director of the Education Institute (1998-2001), Dean of Social Sciences College (2001-2003, 2008-2009), Vice President for Student Affairs (2004-2005), Dean of Center for General Education (2009-2010), and Senior Vice President of Administration (2010-2013). Dr. Cheng led the Education Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government as the Director-General from 2003-2004 and again from 2006-2008. Dr. Cheng’s professional interests are educational psychology, creative thinking and teaching, educational administration and organizational management, and educational measurement and assessment.

Prof. Dr. Mika Hannula
President, Tampere University of Technology, Finland

Mika Hannula is President at Tampere University of Technology (TUT). The University combines a strong tradition of research in the fields of natural sciences and engineering with research related to industry and business. TUT is a sought-after partner for collaborative research and development projects with business and industry and a fertile breeding ground for innovation and new research- and knowledge-based companies. Doctor of Science in Technology, Mika Hannula was appointed as Professor of Information and Knowledge Management at TUT in 2001. His fields of expertise include business intelligence, management and change management and performance measuring. Prior to TUT Presidency he has held the positions of Dean and Vice President for Education.

Prof. Dr. Colin B. Grant, Vice President (International),
University of Southampton, United Kingdom

Professor Dr Colin B. Grant BA (Heriot-Watt), PhD (Bath), FHEA, FRSA studied Modern Languages, Literature and Politics in Edinburgh, Bath, Leipzig, Nantes, Berlin and Siegen. He was DAAD Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Siegen in 1996 and 1997 and Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Université Sorbonne Paris.
He is the first Vice-President (International) at the University of Southampton, a founding member of the elite Russell Group of leading UK universities. He provides University-wide oversight of all activities with an international component. This includes overall responsibility for: the international strategy, international students and alumni, international staff community, international research and innovation, international mobility, global profile and international partnerships with universities, governments, industry and other actors.
He is Chair of the Boards of the University of Southampton Malaysian Campus and Southampton International Singapore Ltd.
Professor Grant is a Professor of Human Communication, whose research and educational interests focus on communications in unstable environments, a field in which he has published 9 book-length studies.
Professor Grant is a long-standing member of the Universities UK International Strategic Advisory Board and a member of the British Council Education Advisory Group. He is a member of the DAAD Global Strategic Partnerships Review Committee and a Specialist Reviewer of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. He is Chair of the UUK Latin America Community of Practice. He has recently been appointed Chair of the Russell Group International Forum.
Professor Grant is a fluent writer and speaker of French, German and Portuguese and a learner of Chinese. He is also an alumnus of the Leadership Foundation Top Management Programme.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Prof. Dr. Chitoshi Miki ,
President Tokyo City University, Japan

Prof. Dr. Chitoshi Miki is a President at Tokyo City University from 2015. Prof. Chitoshi Miki received his Doctoral of Engineering in 1979 from Tokyo Institute of Technology and Honorary Doctor in 2014 from Thammasat University, Thailand. He was Associate Professor at University of Tokyo (1980-1981), Visiting Scientist at Lehigh University, USA (1984 – 1985) , Associate Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology (1981 – 1990). Post-Doctoral Researcher, Lehigh University, USA (1991). Appointed as Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1991 until 2012, Dean, School of Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology (2003-2005), Executive Vice President at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2005 – 2007, Chief Advisor and Executive Director, AUN SEED Net (2011-2014), Professor Emeritus at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2012 and was appointed as Executive Vice President in 2013 – 2014

Academic AchievementsHis research area includes fatigue and fracture of steel structures, fracture mechanics, corrosion, non-destructive evaluation, bridge design and bridge maintenance. He has published 13 books and written more than 350 technical papers.

Prof. Dr. Wahid Razzaly
Vice-Chancellor Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)

Prof. Dr. Wahid is currently the Vice-Chancellor at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He has worked in Polytechnics and Community Colleges of the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia for 18 years prior to joining UTHM as a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering Technology and the Faculty of Technical and Vocational education. He had a wide experience in TVET through active involvements in international activities of teaching and learning, research and consultancy. His research interests are in the field of TVET, Engineering Education, Curriculum Development.
