Dear students,<\/p>\n
Since early July, we and the rest of the world have been witnessing right before our very eyes a genocide being committed in Gaza by the Israeli military. The unrestrained bombing and shooting of Palestinian civilians, including women, children, the sick and the elderly is unbelievably cruel and inhumane.<\/p>\n
Almost 2,000 Gaza residents have been killed, many of whom were children. Lately, there have also been reports of summary executions of fleeing civilians by Israeli troops. Israeli actions are tantamount to war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n
The Senate of the University of Malaya during its meeting on the 24th of July requested that I start a petition to be signed by all academicians, staff and students in IPTs throughout the country to express our outrage and condemn the above atrocities by Israel.
\nNeutrality and silence in the face of such ongoing and irrefutable barbaric crimes is not an option. The time to be silent is over and the time to speak out is here.<\/p>\n
