{"id":839,"date":"2013-03-27T13:07:11","date_gmt":"2013-03-27T05:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chancellery.utm.my\/casis\/?page_id=839"},"modified":"2014-04-20T18:46:23","modified_gmt":"2014-04-20T10:46:23","slug":"dr-hiroko-kushimoto-hiruya","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/chancellery.utm.my\/casis\/dr-hiroko-kushimoto-hiruya\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Hiroko Kushimoto (Hiruya)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>To view her slide presentation, <a href=\"https:\/\/chancellery.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2013\/04\/Dr.Hiroko.pdf\">click here<\/a><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Hiroko Kushimoto converted\/reverted to Islam in 2007 when she was in Kedah doing her field research in 2006-2007 for a year and a half in a Pondok school in Kedah for her Ph.d thesis where\u00a0 she wrote extensively on the anthropological interpretation of\u00a0 Islamic Education happenings in Malaysia entitled\u00a0 \u201c<em>Transformation of the culture of Islamic Learning : Anthropological\u00a0 Analysis of Malay Muslim Society\u201d .<\/em>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nShe presented papers and write journals throughout these years on<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cIslam and Modern School Education in Journal Pengasuh: Review of the Kaum Muda &#8211; Kaum Tua Dichotomy\u201d<\/li>\n<li> <strong> <\/strong>\u201cIn the name of Al- Azhar : State Control of Ulama Training in Malaysia\u201d at Seminar \u201cSouth-east Asian Foreign Study at Cairo\u2019s Al-Azhar University : Comparing Indonesia and Malaysia\u201d in September 2012<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCulture of Islamic Learning in Contemporary Malaysia: the Role of Traditional Element\u201d in SIAS (IAS Center at Sophia Uni) and KIAS Joint workshop tradition in Modernism: Reformation and Revival in July 2012<\/li>\n<li> \u201c<em>Transmisi Pengetahuan Ilmu Tasawuf di Dunia Melayu\u201d.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Singapura bagi mengkaji tentang perkembangan Maulud Nabi Muhammad saw di sini dan di rantau ini .<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\nIf In\u00a0 the last dialogue we were honored and enlightened by a Singaporean scholar, Dr Syed Khairuddin al-Junied\u2019s motivating words and thought provoking anecdotes \u00a0which depicts CASIS as an OASIS in the middle of a thirst quenching desert ; This particular session previewed a Japanese scholar \u00a0which has enliven\u00a0 that OASIS with \u00a0a taste of \u00a0its\u00a0 winter sonata breeze.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWe have acquired much beneficial food for thought through Dr Hiroko\u2019s stories of her experience and journey towards becoming a scholar in not only a presumably patriarchal field, but\u00a0 also in an environment where Islam is a minority. Dr. Hiroko talks about the transformation of Islamic education in Malaysia and how she discovered that the pattern to these transformation was more to the level of elements rather than the system itself.
